Enjoy a casual hike on Mt. Rokko with a guide and visit the herb garden and Nunobiki waterfall

TOURISM OVERVIEW

It is a hiking tour where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery around Kobe. Ms. Negishi, a Rokko-san specialist who has been climbing the Rokko mountains since her mother took her since she was a baby, will guide you while introducing seasonal plants.  On the outward trip, we will take the ropeway up to Nunobiki Herb Gardens, and on the return trip, we will hike to Nunobiki Waterfalls and a teahouse popular among local hikers.  Nunobiki Waterfalls are only a 10-minute walk from the Shinkansen station and is a popular spot for both tourists and residents to relax.

Nunobiki Herb Gardens & Ropeway

Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens are Japan’s largest herb gardens with around 75,000 herbs and flowers of about 200 kinds blooming throughout the year. “Walk-in-the-sky” ropeway offers a comfortable 10-minute ride with panoramic views of all of the colors of the seasons while looking down upon Kobe as well as sweeping views of Kyoto and Osaka.

Nunobiki Waterfalls

Located on the mountain side of Shin-Kobe Station, The waterfalls were selected as one of the “100 Best Waterfalls in Japan” and are the collective name of four waterfalls. It is said that the water taken from the Nunobiki Stream does not spoil even after crossing the equator, and that foreign ships passing through Japan once stopped at the port of Kobe just to replenish their drinking water supply. Later, the water was called “Kobe Water” and became a topic of conversation among foreign sailors, and even today it is famous as “water that does not spoil”

Ontaki Chaya(old rest house)

Established 106 years ago. The teahouse overlooking Ontaki, one of the four waterfalls of Nunobiki Waterfalls, has long been a favorite of locals and hikers.  Amazake (sweet sake) and oden (simmered vegies) are their specialties.
